Comparing the 2019 Toyota Tundra and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

At Toyota of Mt. Pleasant, we want our shoppers to be as well-informed as possible. That’s why, if you’re deciding on two similar vehicles, we want to help you know all of the ins and outs that are necessary for you to make the decision that’s right for you. So, if you’re deciding between the 2019 Toyota Tundra and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, we’re here to examine both trucks a bit more closely. Keep reading to learn more about the 2019 Tundra and the 2019 Silverado!

The 2019 Toyota Tundra

The 2019 Toyota Tundra offers six distinct trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, the 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro. The TRD Pro is an excellent choice for those seeking off-road capability as it comes with larger aluminum Fox shocks, lighter BBS forged wheels, and a 2-inch lift for added clearance.

There are two engines offered with the Tundra: a 4.6-liter V8 engine or a 5.7-liter V8 engine. The Tundra focuses on performance by offering a TRD Sport package, which adds features such as a sport-tuned suspension and 20-inch wheels. There’s also a TRD Off-Road package that provides tow hooks, skid plates, off-road tires, trail-tuned shock absorbers, and more.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

For the 2019 year, the Chevrolet Silverado has been completely redesigned. It offers various powertrains, cab configurations, and trim levels. In fact, the 2019 Silverado is available in eight separate trim levels. Spread across each trim is a wide array of comfort, safety, and technology features that you and your passengers will enjoy.

When it comes to the engine of the Silverado, drivers have several choices. The base WT trim offers a 4.3-liter V6 engine, the LT trim gets you a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and the LT Trail Boss trim level comes with a 5.3-liter V8 engine.

On top of the many features, the 2019 Silverado offers numerous packages that can be equipped to the truck. Unfortunately, several of the packages consist of safety features. There’s a Safety package and a Safety package II. If you were expecting features such as lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and front and rear parking sensors to be standard, you’ll need to equip these packages to the Silverado.

How Can You Choose?

Now that you’ve learned a bit about what the 2019 Toyota Tundra and the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado have to offer, it’s time to figure out which one wins out. In almost every category, the two trucks tie. They both provide countless features, offer different engine choices, give you plenty of trim options to choose from, and more. They also provide plenty of space as well. Even though the Silverado has been completely redesigned for the 2019 year, we recommend the 2019 Toyota Tundra. With the Tundra, you might have to add packages that give you extra off-road capability. However, you don’t have an added cost for safety like you do with the Silverado. Since many safety features are standard with vehicles today, we feel the Silverado lacks in this area. This proves the Tundra victorious.
