Teach Your Kids About Mt. Pleasant History at Our Local Museum!

March 22nd, 2017 by

Do your kids know everything there is to know about Mt. Pleasant? You probably answered with a resounding “no.” Unless your kids have been studying up on Mt. Pleasant’s history, they could probably stand to learn a thing or two about the city. Educate and entertain them at the same time with a trip to the Historical Museum at Mount Pleasant Public Library.

What’s Inside

This isn’t your normal history museum. Instead, it offers hands-on exhibits that your kids are certain to love. Watch as they walk inside of a Caddo grass hut, where they will listen to a Native American talk about life inside of a Caddo village. They can even see artifacts that were found in Titus County. That will certainly give your kids some pride.

Their pride will grow some more when they visit the field tent, where they will learn about the role the county played in the Civil War. They will get the scoop from Lieutenant Harrison Barrow.

They will also get to visit a hand-hewn log cabin that was built in the style of the early settlers. This cabin includes a 150-year-old spinning wheel, along with some other artifacts.

These are just some of the exhibits you’ll find inside of the museum. By the time your family leaves, your kids will have a new appreciation for Mt. Pleasant and Titus County.
