Not everyone who needs a pickup truck really requires all the towing capacity or the large truck bed of a full-size model. The Toyota Tacoma will easily appeal to you if you want the off-roading skills or ability to haul and tow of a pickup, but you don’t need as much as the larger Tundra has to offer. The Tacoma’s midsize body means that it is highly maneuverable and gets better fuel economy than larger trucks, but it is still durable and practical. Within its class, the Tacoma has consistently been truck lover favorite. When you buy the Toyota, you can count on it lasting a long time and retaining its value.
The Tacoma can take you off-road with confidence thanks to features like Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select, and the electronically locking rear differential. In addition, you can use the powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine to tow 6,800 pounds or load the truck bed with 1,440 pounds. While the Toyota Tacoma is capable, it is also comfortable with available leather upholstery and features like the Smart Key and push-button start.
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is available in six separate trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. Spread across each trim is a wealth of features. Ranging from comfort to technology and everything in-between, the Tacoma proves to be an excellent choice for drivers. When it comes to technology features, you and your passengers will appreciate the Entune app suite, a navigation system, a 7-inch touchscreen, USB ports, satellite radio, a premium JBL audio system, a Qi wireless phone charging, and Bluetooth®*. As far as safety features are concerned, you’ll receive forward collision warning, automatic high beams, a sway monitoring system, LED fog lights, LED daytime running lights, crawl control, lane departure warning, an integrated backup camera, and much more.
A closer look at the top trim, the TRD Pro, reveals a variety of off-road features. If you’re seeking a truck with lots of off-road capability, the TRD Pro trim is an excellent choice, offering features such as crawl control, trailer-sway control, Fox internal bypass shocks, desert air intake, a multi-terrain select option, an electronically locking rear differential, Bilstein shocks, a unique front grille, LED fog lights, cat-back exhaust, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, cruise control, skid plates, hill start assist control, and much more. As you can see, the 2019 Tacoma offers plenty for you to love!
The Toyota Tacoma launched as a 1995 model year, although the Hilux and a generically named Toyota truck preceded it. Compared to previous versions, this first official Tacoma had enhanced handling and comfort. For 1998, the front end was restyled, and there were new option packages, a new upper trim, and a standard side passenger airbag. The following year, the Tacoma got force limiters and pre-tensioners on the seatbelts. Power on the 4-cylinders increased slightly for 2000, along with updated side mirrors, new interior designs, and improved gear shifting. The 2001 Tacoma was the first to feature a double cab, along with some new trim levels, additional body color choices, and new alloy wheels. Antilock brakes became standard in 2003. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution followed the next year, while V6 models got traction control and Vehicle Stability Control.
The 2005 Toyota Tacoma was all new. For 2006, changes were minimal, but tire pressure monitoring became standard. The following year, the audio system was upgraded and the front seats were updated. Traction and stability control became standard across the Toyota Tacoma lineup in 2009. For 2011, this pickup got an improved 4-cylinder engine, standard air conditioning, and updates to the front grille. 2012 saw styling updates and enhanced technology. Just some of the new exterior elements included the grille, headlights, hood, and bumpers, while the door trim and center console were updated inside. The screen for the backup camera also grew in size, and the audio systems got more advanced.
